Hi, I'm Matt, Creative Director, writer, and creative boyfriend to Freddie Coltart since 2009. But this is my site, not his, so let's just talk about me from now on, OK.

Currently, I have the great privilege of (co)leading the incredible Coca-Cola and Goodman Fielder accounts here at DDB Aotearoa (New Zealand). I also work across a bunch of other great clients like McDonald's, VW, Lion Beer, and Tourism NZ when they let me.
I'm a creative leader, thinker, semi-dyslexic writer and Dad, with a strong belief that nothing beats the deadly combination that is hard work and fun.
Over the last 6 years, I've helped DDB land multiple NZ and Regional Agency of the Year titles at Spikes, Award, Cannes, D&AD and Campaign Brief. And helped my clients land back-to-back Brand of the Year and Marketer of the Year titles.

About my work, David Letterman famously once said, “I love this as life itself, ladies and gentlemen.” I play this clip most days.

I once got the BBC lead anchor to say ‘balls’ 11 times in a segment.

Over the last decade, I've been ranked second best on the BestAds world rankings, bested only by Mother (who isn’t actually a person, or a mother).

One time, Big Won said I was 7th best copywriter in the world, with three top-20 campaigns. It's been all downhill from there.

I've tutored, mentored and lectured in three ad schools, and did such a great job, the students are now smarter than me.

In the same year, I created the worst testing ad in the entire world, according to Cantar, as well as the best. Both were wildly successful for the brand.

I run a 21-minute 5k, and a 3-hour-26 marathon for those that are interested, which I know is no one.
